Meet Mary F.
The world offers limitless opportunities for proofreading, just in the normal course of a day. Mary decided early on that this was her calling and could even be a way to make a living. She now has been toiling in the vineyards of the English language for more than 30 years, writing, editing, reporting, reading, proofreading, copyediting, designing, laying out, publishing, etc. She loves working with words and working with people, helping them say what they want to say as clearly and cogently as they can. She enjoys the variety of material that crosses her desk every day.
Mary began working with ProofreadNOW in 2009, after a long career as a classical music radio host in Schenectady, New York; Nashville, Tennessee; and New York City. She held positions as a reporter at several publications and as director of corporate communications and investor relations. Her background includes writing and editing annual and quarterly reports, employee communications, management speeches, etc.
In addition to her work with ProofreadNOW, Mary serves as administrator and publicity director for the oldest summer music festival in the country. When she’s not glued to her computer she hosts dinner parties, volunteers at the local public library, sings in three choruses, and enjoys swimming and hiking the Catskills with her rescued Black Lab, Arthur.
